Bulk Billing at Mambourin Doctors

Bulk Billing

At Mambourin Doctors, we believe cost should never be a barrier to quality healthcare.

That is why we are a 100% bulk billing practice, meaning all consultations and services are provided at absolutely no out-of-pocket cost to patients with a valid Medicare card.

What Is Bulk Billing?

Bulk billing is a payment option under Medicare where your doctor charges Medicare directly for the cost of your consultation. When you are bulk billed, you pay nothing out of pocket — Medicare covers the entire fee.

To be bulk billed, you must have a valid Medicare card.

Who Is Eligible for Bulk Billing?

All patients with a valid Medicare card are bulk billed at Mambourin Doctors. No gap fees, no out-of-pocket costs.

What Is Covered Under Bulk Billing?

At Mambourin Doctors, the following services are 100% bulk billed for eligible patients.

No gap fees, no out-of-pocket costs:

  • General GP consultations
  • Women’s health consultations, including cervical screening and breast checks
  • Antenatal and postnatal care
  • Mental health consultations and Mental Health Care Plans
  • Child developmental assessments
  • Chronic disease management consultations and care plans
  • Skin checks
  • Skin procedures and minor procedures
  • Immunisations and vaccinations (some vaccines may have additional costs)
  •  IUD and Implanon consultations and insertions
  • Iron infusions
  • Ear syringing and ear wax removal
  • Transfer of history

Services Not Covered by Bulk Billing

A small number of services fall outside Medicare’s bulk billing guidelines and will incur a private fee. These include:

  • WorkCover consultations
  • RHCA Medicare cardholders
  • Pre-employment medical assessments
  • Medical and other reports
  • Driver medical assessments (Taxi, Uber, Diabetic, Racing)
  • Cosmetic treatments
  • Urine drug screening
  • Allied health services (separate fee schedule applies — see our Allied Health page)

Our reception team will always advise you of any applicable fees before your appointment. No surprises, ever.

WorkCover & Transport Accident Commission (TAC)

If you are attending an appointment for a WorkCover or TAC related matter, please be
aware of the following:

  • Upfront payment is required on the day of your appointment. All WorkCover and TAC consultations must be settled in full at reception at the time of service.
  • We will provide you with a formal tax invoice and receipt upon payment, which you can then submit directly to WorkCover or TAC to claim your reimbursement.
  • The clinic does not bill WorkCover or TAC directly. Patients are responsible for lodging their own reimbursement claim with their respective provider.

If you have any questions about this process before your appointment, please contact
our reception team and we will be happy to help.

What If I Don't Have a Medicare Card?

If you do not hold a valid Medicare card, your consultation will be privately billed and a fee will be payable on the day. Depending on your private health insurance, you may be able to claim a partial rebate through your insurer.

Please contact our reception team prior to your appointment if you have any questions about fees.

Payment

For consultations that are not bulk billed, payment is required at the time of your appointment. We accept credit card and EFTPOS.
